To help you keep up, here is the Schedule of Due Dates.

+ Due Monday, 8 Dec 08 – Assignment #1: Take notes on What Texas was Like at the Beginning of the 20-year Period. For 1820-1840, read and take notes from pp. 150-153 and other parts of Chapter 6 if helpful—for example, filibusters. If you’re doing a different 20-year period, find the appropriate chapters and pages in your textbook. You may also use other sources (e.g., HOTO, Google, etc.) for extra credit or to make sure you have enough information.

+ Due Monday, January 12 09 – Assignment #2: Your Story up to “Falling Asleep” —Write your story to the point at which the main character “falls asleep,” checks out, goes into a coma, wanders off, vanishes, whatever.

+ Due when we reach this point in the course (sometime after Christmas holidays) - Assignment #3: Take notes on Texas at the End of the 20-Year Period + make a list of important events and people during these 20 years that you will include in your story. + List ways in which Texas was different from how it was 20 years earlier?

+ Due one week after Assignment #3 – Assignment #4: Your Story from “Waking Up” to the End of the Story – Your main character “wakes up,” “returns,” etc., and notices how things have changed and receives information from and interacts with other people about important changes, developments, events, and people during the past 20 years

+ Due one week after Assignment #4 – Assignment #5: Your finished story. This will basically be a combination of Assignment #2 & Assignment #4, polished and buffed to perfection.
