Welcome to Texids/Assignments

Texids blog provides you with information for the IDS class. I am currently having trouble with the regular website, so this is a temporary measure to keep you in touch with class activities. At first, I will mainly use the blog for posting Assignments.

For Wed, 3/21
1. Read carefully Ch 14/Sec 1 on "A New State Government" for the young state of Texas.
2. Possible UAE (Unannounced Evaluation Activity), e.g., pop test!

For Tue, 3/20
1. Be ready to turn in and defend your assignment on Dividing Texas Into Five States.
2. Continue jotting down ideas for the small group assignment we began in class Monday, 3/19, on Texas government: A) ramifications of Texas' changing from a nation to a state, B) advantages and disadvantages of a one-branch government, C) advantages and disadvantages of a three-branch government, and D) who had power in Texas in 1845 and today.

For Fri, 2/16
1. Be ready to turn in the BLT Team Strategy Planning Sheet you worked on in class on Thursday. It should be completely finished when you arrive in class.
2. Log onto the blog and send me a comment indicating you managed to find the blog. Anyone who has not done this by the beginning of class on Friday will receive a ZERO. Everyone who does it will receive a grade of 100.
3. In class on Friday you will meet with your debate team and plan strategy for Monday's big debate: Which students should be most proud of the man after whom their school is named: Bonham, Lamar, or Travis?
4. As I told you in class on Thursday, your final set of BLT Research notes (Set 5) were to be handed in on Friday, BUT I'm changing this and making them DUE ON MONDAY, the day of the debate.

For Mon, 2/19: D-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Come prepared to debate!
2. Have your final set of BLT Research Notes (Set 5) ready to turn in. You should be getting really in-depth information at this point, not just information from brief summaries. Use books, the Southwestern Historical Quarterly, the Heroes of Texas packet I gave you, etc. Do Google, Yahoo, and Ask.com searches. Gather lots of useful information to make sure you are fully prepared on Monday.

For Thur, 2/15
1. Log on to texids blog. Send a comment saying you have logged on.

Testing something.
